Someone once asked how can we tell what the teacher teaches is 100% effective. A seemingly simple question.
Today the market is flooded with courses on Feng Shui and Destiny Analysis. Lillian Too was undoubtedly the pioneer who started to popularise Feng Shui to the western world, targeting the English-speaking audience. A lot of non-Chinese speaking students would pay tribute to her for bringing this art alive to their world. Thereafter, the likes of Raymond Lo, Joseph Yu, Joey Yap just to name a few, started to sprout the world over. We are thankful for their contribution to bring the art of Chinese Metaphysics alive to the world.
Before we can tell if a teaching is effective, we must first try to understand the objective of a teacher. In today’s highly commercialised world, the first objective is to make money and the second objective is how much money to make. The second objective is more important and here is why.
If the objective is to make lots of money, the more general the information you are going to get. The bigger the market share to capture, the more diluted the teachings will be. Teachings will be tailored according to what is more popular in the market. It does not matter if the methods taught are usable or not. Just teach what the others are teaching and try to make more money than the other instructors.
You will also find that many sub-topics are created from a single topic. This is called milking the cow while it still has milk. With the number two objective high on the list, would you still think you are getting the real stuff? They will protect their interest first and least of all, to allow you to be their competitor with what they teaches you.
Thus, we can forget about learning the real thing from the mass-marketers, let alone 100% effective teachings.
There is another group of teachers whom you hardly hear about them. Occasionally, you will hear their name being mentioned in blogs and forums. You never see them on TV, newspapers, and no annual convention-hall type of seminars. You don’t even know how they looked like. To this group of teachers, the number two objective is not important because they already have enough to last a few generations. They have their own source of income and they are effectively using their Chinese Metaphysics knowledge to grow their other source of income. They do not depend their livelihood by peddling Feng Shui products and services. This is the true effectiveness of Feng Shui at work.
Let’s say you are lucky enough to meet the second group of teachers, would you be learning the real stuff? You will, eventually, but not as fast as you want it to be. It takes time. You can be assured that you will be given proper direction but the information will be released in small bits. Sometimes information is given without you even realising it because you have not reached the stage of grasping the knowledge. It is after much practice and thinking that you will realised that yes, it was taught but could never comprehend.
What the teacher may be looking for is your ability to absorb the knowledge, your integrity as a person and your loyalty to the group and family. I am not saying that this is the rule. It is my perception that all genuine masters will be looking out for transfer of knowledge and they will have their own criteria, in their own time. You would be doing the same if you are in their shoes. Offend your teachers at your own peril.
So, the first part of getting to know if the methods taught are 100% effective is to find a teacher who has been practicing the real art, who has created real, tangible results for himself and his clients. The second part is getting him to teach you the basic foundation that is usable. And the third part is to practice and use it yourself to truly experience the real results of 100% effective Feng Shui methods. This is the only way to know if the method is 100% effective because you have learned it, done it and seen it work yourself.
Do you need a lifetime to see results? No, a few hours at best, the longest in 6 months.
Can you become a credible Feng Shui consultant just by attending a 3-day course? Something to think about……
